Mitchel's Chimney and Masonry Specialists, Inc. was established November 4, 1998 The owner Christine Mitchel is a Class A Virginia Contractor and she splits her time between the office and the field, overseeing all the operations of the business. She works in the field a few days a week: visiting sites, checking on crews, performing fireplace designs, inspections and masonry estimates. The rest of the week you will find her in the office overseeing the office, doing payroll and taking care of the day to day operations.
It is the mission of Mitchel's as a company to perform quality work and to establish a long term relationship with our customers. We don't want to just sweep your chimney, we want to be your lifetime Chimney and Masonry technicians. It is through this mission statement and Christine Mitchel's commitment to quality that Mitchel's has established themselves in their field as being one of the top companies in the area. You will not get the cheapest job done, but you will get personal service, a highly trained technician and extremely high quality work. Mitchel's Chimney is a full service company, we are so much more than chimney sweeping. We offer full fireplace and patio design, you can either visit us in our showroom or schedule a design appointment for us to come to you. (Charges do apply for in home design appts.) Christine Mitchel, will help you design the look you want for your fireplace and then her head mason Richardo Jiguan Lopez will implement that design, transforming your fireplace from an unattractive energy loss, to an attractive, warm, inviting, heat efficient, comfort zone in your home. All our employees have their specialties, but they are all cross trained in each others fields as well and they often work together as a team. Mitchel's offers many other services as well. anything from chimney sweeping, relining and rebuilding, to custom fireplaces and prefabricated installation. We also offer patio redesigns, tuck-point restoration, historical masonry work, retaining walls, stone and brick overlays and much, much more. Richardo Jiguan Lopez: Head Mason and Foreman: Richardo has worked as an employee of Mitchel's since 2001. Richardo has honed his masonry skills through years of hard work, practice and continued education. He was trained by Kevin Mitchel, who himself is a Master Mason and was in charge of the Masonry operations up until this past year. Richardo took over as the companies Master mason in 2007, This is a step Mr. Mitchel never would have done if he himself hadn't believed Richardo would continue the companies tradition of quality work, done old world style. Richardo is in charge of all aspects of the masonry building and remodeling, as well quality control done for this company. Richardo is also fully trained as a chimney sweep and can also perform all functions of our other sweeps as well as all masonry building.
Ralph Genao: Head Chimney Technician: Mr. Genao has worked for Mitchel's since 2004. Mr. Genao is certified through the Chimney Safety Institute of America and he performs chimney inspections, sweeping, gutter cleanings and dryer vents. Ralph does most of the chimney repair work, like chimney caps, damper replacement and relining. Ralph's specialties include but are not limited to fireplace and woodstove installation and Gas Fireplace Services. Ralph also does light masonry work on chimney's like tuckpointing, crowns and brick replacement.
Byron Huinac: Mason: Mr. Huinac worked for Mitchel's part time since 1999, he just recently accepted a full time position with our company, taking Richardo's old position as Mason. Mr. Huinac is an extremely skilled mason who works on Richardo's crew. His specialties include but are not limited to Stone work, patios, rebuilding chimneys, and fireplace stone overlays.
Servando Escobar: Laborer/Sweeps Technician: Mr. Escobar has worked for Mitchel's since 2003, he is what we refer to in this industry as a floater. Mr. Escobar has been cross trained personally by Mr. Mitchel to work as a masons helper or as a chimney technicians helper. He works with either the masonry crew, mixing mortar, laying brick, getting materials and supplies together, or with the chimney crew, grinding and tuckpointing, assisting with chimney sweeps or pouring crowns and setting up and taking down ladders.
Kelley Dey: Gas Specialists: Mr. Dey is a plumber by trade and he came to work for us August of 2009. Mr. Dey is in charge of managing all of our gas work. He does all the Gas estimates, diagnoses, installations. Mr. Dey runs gas lines, installs gas logs, gas inserts and stoves. Mr. Dey can also diagnose gas issues and install new parts for gas logs and stoves. All gas fireplace cleanings are also done by Mr. Dey.
